Whether you are a new mom or dad, or one that is toting around four little munchkins, you know how important safety is when driving. While we do our best to drive safely and responsibly in order to avoid car accidents, we also want to take measures into our own hands by placing our children in safe, secure and reliable car seats.
Unfortunately, Graco has found itself in hot water regarding the recall of 4 million defective car seats. Furthermore, because the company failed to provide suitable notification to consumers, they are being fined $10 million and an additional $7 million in five (5) years unless they spend at least the same amount on ways to improve safety in their products.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation last year on Graco and found that they failed, on all accounts, to provide consumers with information about the dangers regarding their car seats. The NHTSA found that the car seat buckles would stick or become stuck in the latched position. This was extremely problematic in the event that a child needs to get out of a vehicle during an emergency situation. As a result, this is the largest recall ever of child seats.
The Graco products that were “flagged” were more than 4 million convertible and booster seats with defective buckles. Additionally, there were 2 million rear facing infant seats that were also defective. Due to the untimeliness of how Graco reacted to these dangers, the penalties were imposed upon the company.
